Verssimo, rico Lopes

Verssimo, rico Lopes ?r?ko?o lo?op?s v?r?ss?mo?o [key], 1905?75, Brazilian writer. Verssimo lectured and taught in the United States. He wrote (in English) Brazilian Literature (1945). His best-known novel is Caminhos cruzados (1935; tr. Crossroads, 1943). His other works include two studies of North American culture and Mexico (1957, tr. 1960). He was director (1953?56) of the Dept. of Cultural Affairs of the Pan-American Union. Verssimo's fiction has been published as Fico completa (1966?67).
