verism vēr´ĭzəm [key], artistic style in which photographic realism is combined with hallucinatory or ironic images. Its practitioners, including Salvador Dalí and Yves Tanguy , often make use of Renaissance concepts of perspective and various academic conventions. The style is also termed veristic surrealism .
