Luckner, Felix, Graf von
Luckner, Felix, Graf von fā´lĭks gräf fən lo͝ok´nər [key], 1886–1966, German naval officer. In World War I he commanded (1916–17) the commerce raider Seeadler. Luckner slipped through the British blockade and before his capture near the Fiji Islands (Sept., 1917), destroyed Allied shipping worth more than $25 million. His bold operations earned him the nickname
the Sea Devil.
