Bosboom-Toussaint, Anna Louisa Geertruida

Bosboom-Toussaint, Anna Louisa Geertruida ä´nä lo͞oē´zä hārtroi´dä bôs´bōm-to͝osăN´ [key], 1812–86, Dutch novelist. She published her first novel, Almagro, in 1837. Her perceptive historical fiction was written in ornate and purposely archaic style. One of her chief works treated modern life this epistolary novel, Majoor Frans (1874, tr. Major Frank, 1886), exhibits a real appreciation of the problems of women.
