Caro, Annibale
Caro, Annibale än-nē´bälā kä´rō [key], 1507–66, Italian poet, friend of Cellini, Varchi, and Bembo. He is best known for his translation of the Aeneid; for his poems in praise of opposing royal houses; and for his letters, which were among the finest of his age.
