Hobart, Garret Augustus

Hobart, Garret Augustus hōˈbärt, –bərt [key], 1844–99, Vice President of the United States (1897–99), b. Long Branch, N.J. A lawyer and businessman, he was prominent in New Jersey Republican politics for many years. Elected Vice President on the ticket with McKinley, he died in office.
