Leuckart, Karl Georg Friedrich Rudolf

Leuckart, Karl Georg Friedrich Rudolf kärl gāˈôrk frēˈdrĭkh ro͞oˈdôlf loiˈkärt [key], 1823–98, German zoologist, a founder of the science of parasitology. He made important discoveries in animal physiology and in comparative morphology and classification of invertebrates. His studies and writings on parasites, including worms and insects, were valuable.
