Mayon, Mount

Mayon, Mount mäyōnˈ [key], active volcano, c.8,000 ft (2,440 m) high, SE Luzon, the Philippines. One of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines, it also is considered one of the world's most perfect cones. The town of Cagsawa was buried in an eruption in 1814; major eruptions also occurred in 1947, 1984, and 1993. Mayon has erupted several times since its last major eruption.
