Solna sōl´nä [key], city (1995 pop. 54,160), Stockholm co., E Sweden, an industrial suburb of Stockholm. Manufactures include machinery, electrical goods, paper, and chocolate. It is the seat of the Swedish motion-picture industry and has numerous scientific institutes, including the Nobel Institute. There are also large hospitals the War Academy (housed since 1792 in Karlsberg Castle, one of Solna's several castles) and the Rasunda sports stadium, where international soccer matches are played.
