Ecatepec de Morelos

Ecatepec de Morelos ākätāpĕkˈ dā mōrāˈlōs [key], city, Mexico state, S central Mexico. It is an industrial center. Ecatepec was the site of an Aztec kingdom established in the 12th cent. The Mexican revolutionary hero Morelos y Pavón was executed by the Spanish at Ecatepec in 1815; a monument to him stands in the city.
