Joliette zhôlyĕtˈ [key], city (1991 pop. 17,396), S Que., Canada, on L'Assomption River, NE of Montreal. Its industries include steel, paper, textile, and ceramic manufacturing, tobacco processing, and limestone quarrying. The Séminaire de Joliette, affiliated with the Univ. of Montreal, is there.
