Prescott, town, Canada

Prescott prĕsˈkət [key], town (1991 pop. 4,512), SE Ont., Canada, on the St. Lawrence River, opposite Ogdensburg, N.Y. Fort Wellington, built during the War of 1812, is now a military museum. At nearby Windmill Point the British repulsed an American attack in 1838.
