Winnipesaukee, Lake

Winnipesaukee, Lake wĭnˌĭpəsôˈkē [key], 71 sq mi (184 sq km), E central N.H.; largest in the state. The lake is irregular in shape, with many indentations. It has 283 mi (455 km) of shoreline and many small islands. Lake Winnipesaukee drains into the Merrimack River through the 20-mi-long (32-km) Winnipesaukee River. The region around the lake is a popular summer resort.
