Bastrop

Bastrop băsˈtrŏpˌ [key], city (2020 pop. 9,711), seat of Morehouse parish, NE La.; founded c.1845. An industrial city in a cattle, cotton, rice, and timber area, Bastrop is the center of the huge Monroe natural gas field (discovered 1916). Manufactures include wood products, insecticides, apparel, farm equipment, paper, and aluminum sulfate.
