La Mirada

La Mirada lä mĭräˈdə [key], city (1990 pop. 40,452), Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1960. La Mirada derives from the Spanish for “the view,” referring to the panoramic view of the surrounding valleys from atop the city's hills. It was the original site of California's olive industry. Metal, plastic, paper, and concrete products are manufactured. Biola College is in the city.
