Kolding

Kolding kôlˈdĭng [key], city (1992 pop. 45,514), Vejle co., S central Denmark, a port on Kolding Fjord, an arm of the Lille Bælt. It is a commercial, industrial, and fishing center that produces ships, machinery, and textiles. Of note in the city are Koldinghus, a royal castle built in 1248 that now houses a historical museum, and the oldest stone church (built in the 13th cent.) in Denmark.
