Sandefjord

Sandefjord säˈnəfyôr [key], town (1995 pop. 37,084), Vestfold co., SE Norway, near the mouth of the Oslofjord. An important shipping center since the 14th cent. and a former whaling port, it is now a seaside resort. The town has shipyards, chemical works, and food-processing plants.
