Hauraki Gulf

Hauraki Gulf hourä´kē, –ră´kē [key], large inlet of the Pacific Ocean, N North Island, New Zealand, forming the entrance to Auckland harbor. Numerous islands are found in the gulf; Great Barrier Island acts as a breakwater.
