Peebles, town, Scotland

Peebles pēˈbəlz [key], town (1991 pop. 6,750), Scottish Borders, S Scotland, at the confluence of Eddleston Water and the Tweed River. It is a mountain resort and a farm market with woolen mills. Ruins of a 13th-century church and castle remain.
