POWELL, Alfred H., a Representative from Virginia; born in Loudoun County, Va., March 6, 1781; was graduated from Princeton College; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of his profession in Winchester, Va., in 1800; member of the state senate 1812-1819; elected as an Adams candidate to the Nineteenth Congress (March 4, 1825-March 3, 1827); delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1830; died in Loudoun County, Va., in 1831.
