Williams High School, Canton, N.Y., 1962; B.B.A., University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Ind., 1966; J.D., Albany Law School, Albany, N.Y., 1973; United States Marine Corps, captain, 1966-1970; admitted to the New York bar in 1974; lawyer, private practice; elected, St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators, 1973-1975; member of the New York state assembly, 1976-1980; elected as a Republican to the Ninety-seventh and to the five succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1981-January 3, 1993); was not a candidate for renomination to the One Hundred Third Congress in 1992; professor, Naval War College, Newport, R.I., 1993-1994; private advocate; business executive; is a resident of Rockville, Md.
