MEEDS, Edwin Lloyd, a Representative from Washington; born in Dillon, Beaverhead County, Mont., December 11, 1927; moved with his parents to Monroe, Snohomish County, Wash., in 1944; graduated from Monroe High School in 1946; served in the United States Navy from January 1946 to November 1947; graduated from Everett Junior College in 1950; part owner-operator of gasoline station, 1950-1954; graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1958 and was admitted to the bar the same year; deputy prosecuting attorney in Spokane and Snohomish Counties, 1958-1960, practiced law in Everett, Wash., 1960-1962; prosecuting attorney, Snohomish County, 1962-1964; president of Snohomish County Young Democrats, 1960-1962; board member of Snohomish County Democratic Central Committee, 1961-1963; elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-ninth and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1965-January 3, 1979); was not a candidate for reelection in 1978 to the Ninety-sixth Congress; resumed the practice of law in Washington, D.C.; died on August 17, 2005, in Church Creek, Md.
