LEE, Francis Lightfoot, (brother of Arthur Lee and Richard Henry Lee), a Delegate from Virginia; born at “Stratford,” in Westmoreland County, Va., October 14, 1734; pursued classical studies under private teachers; member of the house of burgesses 1758-1775; signed the Westmoreland Association against the stamp act; Member of the Continental Congress 1775-1779; one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence; member of the State house of delegates in 1780 and 1781; served in the Virginia State senate 1778-1782; died at his home, “Menoken,” in Richmond County, Va., January 11, 1797; interment in wife’s family (Tayloe) burial ground, Mount Airy plantation, near Warsaw, Va.
