STARKWEATHER, George Anson, a Representative from New York; born in Preston, Conn., May 19, 1794; attended the common schools and was graduated from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., in 1819; studied law; was admitted to the bar and practiced in Cooperstown, N.Y.; elected as a Democrat to the Thirtieth Congress (March 4, 1847-March 3, 1849); again resumed the practice of his profession in Milwaukee, Wis., 1853-1868; died in Cooperstown, N.Y., October 15, 1879; interment in Lakewood Cemetery.
