CLAWSON, Isaiah Dunn, a Representative from New Jersey; born in Woodstown, Salem County, N.J., March 30, 1822; attended Delaware College, Newark, Del., and Lafayette College, Easton, Pa.; was graduated from Princeton College in 1840 and from the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia in 1843; commenced the practice of medicine in Woodstown, N.J.; member of the State house of assembly in 1854; elected as an Opposition Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress and reelected as a Republican to the Thirty-fifth Congress (March 4, 1855-March 3, 1859); was not a candidate for renomination in 1858; resumed the practice of medicine in Woodstown, N.J., where he died on October 9, 1879; interment in the Baptist Cemetery.
