LE FEVER, Jacob, (father of Frank Jacob Le Fevre), a Representative from New York; born in New Paltz, Ulster County, N.Y., April 20, 1830; attended New Paltz Academy and Amenia Seminary; supervisor of the town in 1861 and 1862; member of the State assembly 1863-1865 and again in 1867; delegate to many Republican State conventions; delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1888; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-third and Fifty-fourth Congresses (March 4, 1893-March 3, 1897); was not a candidate for renomination in 1896 to the Fifty-fifth Congress; president of the Huguenot National Bank until his death in New Paltz, N.Y., on February 4, 1905; interment in New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
