POST, Jotham, Jr., a Representative from New York; born near Westbury, Nassau County, N.Y., April 4, 1771; was graduated from Columbia College, New York City, in 1792; studied medicine but did not practice; engaged in the drug-importing business in New York City; member of the board of aldermen; served in the State assembly 1795 and 1805-1808; director of the New York Hospital 1798-1802; elected as a Federalist to the Thirteenth Congress (March 4, 1813-March 3, 1815); died in New York City, May 15, 1817.
