ROBIE, Reuben, a Representative from New York; born in Corinth, Orange County, Vt., July 15, 1799; attended the common schools; at the age of twenty moved to Bath, Steuben County, N.Y.; engaged in mercantile pursuits in 1822; town clerk 1825-1830; supervisor in 1831 and 1832; appointed postmaster in 1837, holding the office for four years; treasurer of Steuben County 1844-1847; elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-second Congress (March 4, 1851-March 3, 1853); was not a candidate for renomination in 1852; resumed mercantile pursuits in Bath, Steuben County, N.Y., where he died January 21, 1872; interment in Grove Cemetery.
