TABER, Thomas, II, (father of Stephen Taber), a Representative from New York; born in Dover, Dutchess County, N.Y., May 19, 1785; attended the common schools; engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of the State assembly in 1826; elected as a Jacksonian to the Twentieth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Thomas J. Oakley and served from November 5, 1828, to March 3, 1829; died in Roslyn, Long Island, N.Y., March 21, 1862; interment in the Friends Cemetery, Westbury, Long Island, N.Y.
