McCOY, William, a Representative from Virginia; born near Warrenton, Fauquier County, Va., birth date unknown; member of the state house of delegates 1798-1804; delegate to the state constitutional convention in 1829 and 1830; elected as a Republican to the Twelfth through the Seventeenth Congresses, reelected as a Crawford Republican to the Eighteenth Congress, and elected as a Jacksonian to the Nineteenth through Twenty-second Congresses (March 4, 1811-March 3, 1833); chairman, Committee on Claims (Twentieth Congress); died in Charlottesville, Va., in 1864; interment in the University of Virginia Cemetery.
