VAN WYCK, William William, a Representative from New York; born near Fishkill, Dutchess County, N.Y., August 9, 1777; attended the public schools and Fishkill Academy; engaged in agricultural pursuits; elected to the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Congresses (March 4, 1821-March 3, 1825); chairman, Committee on Expenditures in the Post Office Department (Eighteenth Congress); moved to Sudley, Fairfax County, Va., and engaged in planting; returned to Dutchess County, N.Y., and died in Fishkill, N.Y., August 27, 1840; interment in the Dutch Reformed Churchyard.
