Place Of Birth:

Best Known As:
The host of 'InfoWars'
Alex Jones is a rabble-rousing media personality whose radio and internet show, InfoWars, discusses current affairs through the lens of conspiracy theories, denouncing one-world government, police state tactics and international banking plots. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Jones got his start in the media business while attending community college in Austin in the early 1990s. That led to his own show on Austin's cable access TV, where he won fans by being colorful character -- a brave truth teller to some, a raging crackpot to others. He soon got his own syndicated show radio show, making a name for himself by accusing the U.S. government of being behind Timothy McVeigh's 1995 bombing of Oklahoma City. But he took a hit after claiming the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States were part of an "inside job," and his program was axed from several radio stations. Jones restarted on the internet, based in his home in Austin. By that time, he'd also branched out into films, his first being 1998's America: Destroyed by Design. Since then he has been able to spread his message far and wide through InfoWars, with an audience said to be at one point greater than Rush Limbaugh's or Glenn Beck's. A self-described Christian and Libertarian, Jones's career flourished in the election of 2016, as he supported the presidential ambitions of Donald Trump and continued his long-held campaign against Hillary Clinton. By 2018, however, things between Jones and Trump had soured. But Jones had other problems, including being banned from most social media platforms for spreading misinformation and being sued for defamation for claiming the 2012 school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in New Jersey was a hoax. InfoWars filed for bankruptcy in 2022, under the weight of lawsuits and a drop in revenue.
