Actress Amy Adams has been a regular nominee at the Oscars since her breakout in 2005's Junebug. That was her first nomination as best actress; her second nomination was for American Hustle (2013 with Christian Bale). Adams has since been nominated for her supporting roles in Doubt (2008, with Philip Seymour Hoffman), The Fighter (2013, with Christian Bale) , The Master (2012) and Vice (2018). A vibrant redhead who can bring both charm and fire, Adams made her movie debut in the 1999 film Drop Dead Gorgeous (with Kirsten Dunst). Adams then made the most of a small role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in 2002's Catch Me If You Can (directed by Steven Spielberg), and co-starred with Rob Lowe in the short-lived 2004 TV series Dr. Vegas, but Junebug was her first big role -- a warm reception at the Sundance Film Festival earned an acting prize for Adams and wider distribution for the film. Her other movies include Talladega Nights: The Ricky Bobby Story (2006, as the mousy girlfriend of Will Ferrell), the Disney feature Enchanted (2007, with Patrick Dempsey), the sort-of Julia Child biopic Julie and Julia (2009, with Meryl Streep), the sort-of biopic of Margaret KeaneBig Eyes (2014, directed by Tim Burton), the science fiction drama Arrival (2006), as Lois Lane in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), and in 2020's Hillbilly Elegy (with Glenn Close). On television, Adams starred in the series Sharp Objects (2018, with Patricia Clarkson and Sophia Lillis).
A different Amy Adams was one of the contestants on American Idol in 2004, the year Fantasia Barrino won the competition? Some sources list her birthday as 1975 rather than 1974.
