The spotlight fell on young actress Anya Taylor-Joy in 2020, when she carried the television series The Queen’s Gambit as Beth Harmon, a chess playing orphan. First scouted as a model in New York, Taylor-Joy made her feature film debut in the critically-acclaimed film The Witch: A New England Folk Tale (2015, directed by Robert Eggers). She has since appeared in many television productions, including the series Atlantis (2015), Peaky Blinders (in 2019) and, as the voice of Brea, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019). Taylor-Joy also played the same character in two films by M. Night Shyamalan, Split (2016, starring James McAvoy) and Glass (2019, starring Samuel L. Jackson). Her other films include Here Are the Young Men and Emma (both 2020).
