Best Known As:
The English documentarian of 'My Scientology Movie'
Documentary writer and star Louis Theroux is known for his nerdy, polite, non-confrontational interviews with oddballs and fringe groups. His British television series have included Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends (1998-2000) and When Louis Met... (2000-02). Theroux, the son of American writer Paul Theroux, was born in Singapore but raised mostly in England. He has both U.S. and British citizenship. He got his television break in 1995 as a reporter for documentarian Michael Moore's television series TV Nation. Since then, Theroux has carved out a niche for himself in the world of documentaries as the kind, English lad who asks blunt questions of white supremacists, religious zealots, plastic surgery enthusiasts, gamblers, and sex swingers. Two of his more famous documentaries are The Most Hated Family in America (2007, about the Westboro Baptist Church) and My Scientology Movie (2015).
