Before he was Adonis Johnson of Creed, Michael B. Jordan was known to TV viewers as Wallace, a sensitive, troubled drug dealer on The Wire, back in 2002. Jordan grew up in Newark, New Jersey and started his professional career as a part-time teen model. After a few early TV roles (including a bit on The Sopranos), Jordan made his mark on The Wire, and from then on had steady work as a sensitive, troubled teen. Jordan spent three years on the soap opera All My Children (2003-06), and then had a regular role on Friday Night Lights (2009-11) before getting more film work. He appeared in Red Tails and Chronicle in 2012, then won the starring role in 2013's Fruitvale Station, the true story of Oscar Grant III, an African American killed in 2009 by a Bay Area Transit Police Officer. Jordan won rave reviews for his performance. Then came Creed, a 2015 outgrowth of the Rocky movies, with Jordan playing opposite veteran Sylvester Stallone. Jordan followed that with a go at superhero movies, first as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four (2015), then as a villainous rival in Black Panther (2018, starring Chadwick Boseman).
