Miles Teller

Date Of Birth:
20 February 1987
Place Of Birth:
Downington, Pennsylvania
Best Known As:
The star of The Spectacular Now and Whiplash
Miles Teller was a "breakout" star at the Sundance Film Festival two years in a row, first for The Spectacular Now (2013) and then for Damien Chazelle's Whiplash (2014). Teller spent his early childhood in the northeastern United States and his teen years in Florida, then went to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. After graduating in 2009, he made his feature film debut with Nicole Kidman in the drama Rabbit Hole (2010, with Aaron Eckhardt). Critics loved him as a sensitive bad boy in love with Shailene Woodley in The Spectacular Now, and the next year he wowed them as the determined but vulnerable drummer abused by J.K. Simmons in Whiplash. His other films include the remake of Footloose (2011), Project X (2012), 21 & Over (2013), That Awkward Moment (2014), Divergent (2014, also with Woodley), Bleed For This (2016) and War Dogs (2016, co-starring Jonah Hill).
Extra Credit

Miles Teller played the drums in high school and college, and in the movie Whiplash does most of the drumming himself (he has estimated he did about 70%, and the movie’s director, Damien Chazelle, estimated about 90%).
