Rosamund Pike

Date Of Birth:
27 January 1979
Place Of Birth:
London, England
Best Known As:
The female lead in Gone Girl
Actress Rosamund Pike got her break in 2002 as a Bond girl, but she's best known as the star of 2014's Gone Girl, which brought her an Oscar nomination for best actress. The daughter of professional opera singers, Pike began her acting career while still a student at Oxford's Wadham College. She quit school and, after a few bumps, returned and was granted her degree in literature in 1997. Pike then began getting TV parts in British productions, but it was her international screen debut opposite Pierce Brosnan's James Bond (Die Another Day) that put people on notice. She had small, scene-stealing parts in Pride & Prejudice (2005) and An Education (2009, starring Carey Mulligan), then played in several lesser known British productions. Often described as elegant, Pike has been compared to Grace Kelly and other Hitchcock blondes, and was a surprise lead to American audiences as Ben Affleck's co-star in David Fincher's Gone Girl (based on the novel by Gillian Flynn). Pike's other films include The Libertine (2004, starring Johnny Depp), Wrath of the Titans (2012), Jack Reacher (2012, starring Tom Cruise), The World's End (2013) and A Private War (2018, with Jamie Dornan). She was the voice of Lady Penelope on TV's animated Thunderbirds Are Go (2015-17).
