She was named WTA Tour Newcomer of the Year that year after reaching the fourth round at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon. The same year she won the mixed doubles competition at the French Open, paired with fellow French phenom Richard Gasquet; she was 16 and Gasquet was 17 at the time. She made the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open in 2006, falling to Maria Sharapova; it was her highest-ever finish in a major.
