Curry graduated from the University of Oregon School of Journalism in 1978 and worked as a TV news reporter for the NBC affiliate in Medford, Oregon, until 1981. For the next three years Curry was a reporter and anchor for KGW, the NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregon. In 1984 she moved to Los Angeles to work at KCBS, the CBS affiliate. She became the NBC News Chicago correspondent in 1990, and was named anchor of NBC News at Sunrise, the network's early morning newscast in 1991. Curry became news anchor for Today in 1997 and is also a contributing reporter of Dateline.
