KYROS, Peter Nicholas, a Representative from Maine; born in Portland, Maine, July 11, 1925; attended the public schools in Portland, Maine, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1947; graduated from Harvard Law School, in 1957; served in the United States Navy, 1944-1953, discharged with rank of lieutenant; admitted to the bar in 1957 and commenced the practice of law in Portland, Maine; served from 1957 to 1959 as counsel to the Maine Public Utilities Commission, Augusta, Maine; elected as a Democrat to the Ninetieth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1967-January 3, 1975); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1974 to the Ninety-fourth Congress; served in the United States Department of State, 1980-1982; resumed the practice of law in Washington, D.C.; is a resident of Portland, Maine.
